We initiate the Bushmaster Honor Page with a picture of an impressive shadow box illustrating the WW II service of Bushmaster Lloyd A. Pittman 158th Infantry/158th Regimental Combat Team ”Bushmasters” Lloyd entered service on 3 September 1943 participating in combat operations with the 158th Infantry in New Guinea and liberation of the Philippine Islands. The awards and decorations displayed attest to his service as a platoon sergeant during those operations.
The shadow box was produced by former Navy Lieutenant Commander Steven Sorenson. Steve served in the Coast Guard during Vietnam and as a Naval Officer attached to a special warfare unit as Operations officer during Desert Shield/Storm. We know the Pittman family appreciates, as we do, the interest and effort exhibited by former LCDR Sorenson in preparation of this tribute to Sergeant Pittman and his family. The museum was happy to assist in the project.
